Hey guys,
It’s very difficult to think about anything other than the U.S. election during this time. I’ve been glued to CNN since Tuesday, and this honestly feels like if the Rugby World Cup lasted four days.
But, of course, we’re stuck inside most of the time and all I have been watching is CNN, I’ve gotten unnaturally attached to the hosts. And after watching some very targeted fancams (and with some encouragement from Twitter folks) I have decided to make this week’s newsletter an ode to them. Please not that this is based purely on my thirst levels and not on any past opinions they’ve had or politics etc:
Chris Cuomo - the love of my life. I don’t know there is something about him: his demeanor, the way he carries himself, the little jokes that he makes that has me thirsting like a Grade 5 at the end of a hockey match. I’ve been getting a lot of flack for this but I stand by my choice. Please leave my Italian king alone.
Jake Tapper
For Jake, it’s all about the attitude. He has exactly the salty behaviour that I love. And when he says what’s on his mind, I fall a little more in love with him. Check this wonderful video of him owning a dude that went viral this week.
Van Jones
Between the glasses, him owning Rick Santorum every chance he gets and the subtle name-dropping, this former Obama advisor looks like he knows a lot and I’m keen for that gossip.
Anderson Cooper
An old fave! Okay, it is obvious that Anderson is extremely good-looking but its that twinkle in his eye which makes him a firm fave. He has that vibe of someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously, and his attempts at jokes during this tense time has been greatly appreciated. Also he’s a Vanderbilt!
Don Lemon
From the way he’s just been spitting facts lately to his adorable smile, Don Lemon has been charming us all from the newsdesk. I swear when he laughs, I laugh as well. Also he presents himself so well, I am aware that he doesn’t dress himself, but he wears the F out of a suit, and that gets him like 50 more points.
Special mention: John King
Listen my man John King has putting in the work this election. Working that interactive map like he is Pedro the Music Man making a new instrument out of seaweed. His mathematical brain is also swoon-worthy and his chemistry with Wolf Blitzer has me creating one of my wildest ships. I’m so glad to be watching the race as told by John King.
Here’s a group fancam for your enjoyment:
Let me know how you would rank the men of CNN in the comments. (Also don’t worry I’ll go back to proper writing next week).
other things that are on my mind this week:
Series: I am obsessed with The Queen’s Gambit. This story of a female chess prodigy in the 60’s is beautiful, thrilling and addictive. And it is only a mini-series which means the whole story is told over seven episodes. You can read my full review for Channel24 here.
Film: I am extremely late to the party but I finally watched Love, Rosie, the rom-com with Lily Collins and Sam Claflin. It was so adorable and I am MAD at myself that I didn’t watch it sooner. If you need something cushy with just the right amount of angst, it’s currently on Showmax.
Podcast: Myths and Legends: If you are fan of good stories, this podcast is a fave. Jason Weiser tells the stories of myths and legends from mythologies from around the world as well as fairytales and legends. I really love the way he tells stories, it is funny and interesting, and you become enraptured in what he’s saying. You can listen to it on Spotify here.
what’s ign crushing on:
This week on the podcast I was joined by YouTuber Lebo Sibisi (@mrimjustsayin on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube). Lebo is a connoisseur of everything celebrity. We chat about whether or not the Cardi B/Offset drama will ever end, why he thinks Will and Jada went about things the wrong way, and why he calls Christopher Nolan the ‘Brexit Michael Bay.’ Listen to it here

Thanks for the suggestion of Love, Rosie. It's just what I needed today. Just wanted to ask if you have watched Normal People. ❤️
